After obtaining her bachelor's degree in 2015, Kara worked at the Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center Neuropsychology Clinic as a psychometrist.
In this role, she achieved proficiency in the administration and scoring of neuropsychological and psychological measures across an array of inpatient and outpatient populations. She became the lead psychometrist for the Neuropsychology Clinic, NFL Baseline Assessment Program, and for several IRB-approved longitudinal studies. She has trained numerous technicians and doctoral students on neuropsychological assessment, and developed tools used by the clinic including a longitudinal clinical database, excel-based calculators for reliable change, and scoring spreadsheets for numerous measures.
After five years in this role, Kara was offered admission to James Madison University's Psychological Sciences program for the fall of 2020. During the last year of her master's program, she saw patients at University of Virginia as a practicum student in the Department of Neurology and the Memory and Aging Care Clinic under the supervision of board-certified neuropsychologists, gaining experience with clinical interviewing, case conceptualization, and report writing.
